Investing in a Beer Bottle Line is one of the most significant capital expenditures a brewery will make. It’s natural to have questions. In fact, if you don't have questions, you might be overlooking critical details.
At Cassman, we field inquiries from brewers all over the world every day. From "How fast can I bottle?" to "Why is my beer foaming?", we’ve heard it all.
In this guide, we compile the most common questions and troubleshooting tips into one comprehensive resource. Whether you are upgrading from a manual filler or installing a high-speed rotary line, this FAQ guide is your roadmap to a successful purchase.
The most common question is simply: "Which machine do I need?"
A: Don't just look at your current production; look at your 3-year plan.
Nano Brewery (Startups): If you brew 500L batches once a week, a Semi-Automatic 4-Head Filler (200-400 BPH) is sufficient.
Micro Brewery (Growing): If you are doing 10HL-20HL batches daily, you need an Automated Monoblock (1,000-3,000 BPH). You cannot afford to spend 8 hours bottling; you need to finish in 2-3 hours to keep labor costs down.
A: It comes down to Consistency and Oxygen.
Manual: Relies on the operator's hand-eye coordination. Fill levels vary, and oxygen pickup is high because purging is inconsistent.
Automated: A Cassman Automated Line uses a PLC to control the "Double Pre-Evacuation" cycle. It pulls a vacuum, injects CO2, pulls a vacuum again, and then fills. This guarantees low Dissolved Oxygen (DO) and longer shelf life.
A: Yes, but with a caveat.
Most machines can handle standard 330ml, 500ml, and 750ml bottles. However, changing between them requires swapping "Change Parts" (Star wheels and guides).
Factory Direct Tip: When you order from Cassman, send us samples of all your bottle types. We will engineer the change parts specifically for your glass to ensure smooth handling.
A bottling line is a precision instrument. Neglect it, and it will fail.
A:Every single run. Before production, run a hot water or sanitizer rinse. Immediately after production, run a caustic cycle. Never let beer dry inside the filling valves—it forms "beer stone" (calcium oxalate) that harbors bacteria and causes foaming.
A: Rubber seals and gaskets.
The EPDM or Silicone seals inside the filling heads compress thousands of times a day.
Recommendation: Keep a "Spare Parts Kit" on hand. Replace valve seals every 6-12 months. Buying Factory Direct means you can order these kits cheaply and have them shipped via express courier.
Even the best machines need tuning. Here are the solutions to the top 3 panic-inducing problems.
The Fix: Check your temperature and pressure.
Temperature: Is the beer above 2°C (36°F)? If it's too warm, CO2 breaks out of solution. Cool it down!
Pressure: Is the bowl pressure balanced with the tank pressure? If the fill is too turbulent, increase the counter-pressure slightly.
The Fix: Check the Vent Tubes.
Inside every filling valve is a small "return air" tube. If a piece of glass or hop particle gets stuck in there, the gas can't escape, and the bottle won't fill properly. Remove and clean the tube.
The Fix: Check the speed synchronization.
If the conveyor is moving faster than the filler can accept bottles, they slam into each other. Adjust the Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) to match the in-feed speed of the star wheel.
When you have a technical question at 8:00 AM on a brewing day, who do you want to call? A salesperson? Or the engineer who built the machine?
This is the core advantage of Cassman's Factory Direct model.
Direct Answers: You get access to our technical team, not a middleman who has to "call the factory and get back to you."
Video Support: We often solve issues via video call, looking at your machine in real-time to diagnose the problem.
Cost Savings: You aren't paying for a local distributor's markup, meaning you get more machine for your money.
Q: What is the lead time for a custom bottling line?
A: Typically 60-90 days for manufacturing, depending on the complexity and customization required.
Q: Do I need a technician to install it?
A: For large monoblocks, yes. We can send a Cassman engineer to your facility. For smaller lines, many clients install them successfully using our detailed video guides and remote support.
Q: Does the machine come with a warranty?
A: Yes, all Cassman Beer Bottle Lines come with a standard warranty on parts and workmanship.
The more you know about how your packaging line works, the better your beer will be.
Don't let the technical jargon intimidate you. Whether it's selecting the right BPH or troubleshooting a foaming issue, the solution is usually logical. And when it isn't, having a direct line to the manufacturer makes all the difference.
